THIS SPRING & SUMMER, JOIN US FOR A SEVEN-STOP ACTIVITY TRAIL

THROUGH THE PATHS OF ARNOS VALE CEMETERY, INSPIRED BY

OUR MAGICAL 2021 WINTER PRODUCTION OF HANSEL & GRETEL: 

A PLAY ABOUT GRIEF AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT

The trail has been created in partnership with Grief Encounter - a charity for bereaved children, young people and their families, where fully qualified therapists help them deal with their grief at the therapy centre just up the hill from Arnos Vale Cemetery. 

​

The trail features video clips from the original production and engaging activities to trigger the imagination, no matter what your age!

​

To join in you will need access to a phone with

internet access and the ability to scan QR codes. Then:

1. Collect a FREE colouring-in trail map from the Arnos Vale cafe or shop

2. Make your way to the first post (just past the Garden of Rest)

 

3. Scan the QR code and begin your journey...

GOOD TO KNOW

​

  • The trail is a free outdoor activity provided on-site at Arnos Vale Cemetery

  • Age recommendation: 5+

  • Arnos Vale has an on-site cafe selling hot & cold drinks and snacks

  • Toilet facilities are available

  • Free on-site parking is provided (subject to availability)

ACCESS

 

The trail is wheelchair and buggy accessible, but does include some steep and sustained ascents, and may not be suitable for all types of mobility aids.

Q. Where is the Venue?

​

Arnos Vale Cemetery is a national heritage site in the heart of Bristol set within 45 acres of stunning woodland. Arnos Vale lies close to Bristol's city centre on the A4 Bath Road, at Brislington.

On arrival, please enter through the main gates on the Bath Road.

Q. How do I get there?

​​

By car / bike: please use the Bath Road Entrance and see below for parking. Bike parking is available at the cafe.

 

By train: nearest train station is Bristol Temple Meads, 1.1 miles from the main entrance.

​

By bus: services 1, X39, 57, 178 and 349 stop outside the Bath Road gates.

​

Q. Is there parking?

​

There on-site parking available free of charge, subject to availability. The vehicle gates shut at 5pm.

​

Q. What should I wear?

​

Arnos Vale Cemetery Woodlands have some uneven paths and there may be muddy sections. We highly recommend bringing comfortable, flat shoes and layered clothing. 

​

Q. What facilities are available?

 

Toilets are available on site. There is a cafe serving hot and cold refreshments, and a shop selling an array of gift items and providing local information.

HEALTH & SAFETY

​

  • The estates team monitor the site regularly to ensure that the routes around the cemetery remain clear and accessible, but anyone taking part in the trail does so at their own risk. 

​

  • We do not recommend taking part in the trail after dark. 

​

  • We ask all participants to take care when moving around the site in case of trip hazards. 

​

  • We recommend that any under 16s are accompanied by an adult.​

​
