Tread the ooze of the salty deep

Run upon the sharp wind of the north

In the veins of the earth

Hell is empty all the devils are here (all lost to prayers)

Hell is empty all the devils are here (all lost to prayers)

Hell is empty,

Hell is empty,

Hell is empty and all the devils are here

Here

THE ISLAND

I have kissed the wild waves whist

I saw all the charms, every fertile inch o' the isle

Let me live here ever, this place, paradise

Wilt thou go with me, here in this island?

Come unto these yellow sands, prithee now, lead the way

Be not afeared, sounds and sweet airs give delight

The isle is full of noises, such shapes, such gesture and such sound

Such gesture and such sound

This music crept by me upon the waters, in the air and the earth

a thousand voices hum about mine ears

Where should this music be? It waits upon some God

ARIEL'S TEMPEST

I boarded the King's ship and felt a fever of the mad

And played some tricks of desperation, thunder claps,

I flamed amazement

The fire and cracks of sulphurous roaring

Made Neptune's dread trident shake

Full fathom five I plunged into the brine

To make the bold waves tremble

I would flame distinctly,

Vanishing in thunder,

The vessel all afire with me

ARIEL

REPENTS

Grave sir, hail, what’s thy pleasure? On the bat’s back I do fly

Thy industrious Ariel will ride upon the clouds

To swim, to dive into the fire, say what, my lord it shall be done

I go, I go, I go

THE KING'S ENTOURAGE

ANTONIO: Thou let’st thy fortune sleep, die rather; wink’st whiles thou art waking

SEBASTIAN: Thou dost snore distinctly: there is meaning in thy snores, say on

ANTONIO: Will you grant me Ferdinand is drown’d?

SEBASTIAN: Yes, indeed he’s gone

ANTONIO: Then tell me who is the next heir of Naples?

SEBASTIAN: Claribel -

ANTONIO: That queen of Tunis dwells ten leagues beyond man’s life

Here lies your brother, no better than the earth

If he were that which now he’s like, that’s dead

Whom I, with this obedient steel, can lay to bed for ever;

Whiles you to the perpetual wink might put this ancient morsel

Oh that you bore the mind I do, you understand?

SEBASTIAN: Methinks I do -

As thou hast got Milan I’ll come by Naples

ANTONIO: Draw thy sword and when I raise my hand do you the like upon Gonzalo

ARIEL: Awake, awake, preserve the king

ALONSO: Why are you drawn? Pray, what is wrong?

SEBASTIAN: We heard a hollow bellowing like bulls, or rather lions:

Did’t not wake you? -

ALONSO: I heard nothing -

SEBASTIAN: And you sir? -

GONZALO: I heard a humming

ANTONIO: A din to fright a monster’s ear, the roar of a whole herd of lions

GONZALO: ‘Tis best we stand on guard or quit this place, let’s draw our weapons

ALONSO: No, lead off this ground and let’s make search for my poor son

Featuring Norma Butikofer as ALONSO/GONZALO, Helen Cockill as SEBASTIAN, Ellie Showering as ANTONIO. All as ARIEL.

MONSTER

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah

Oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah

Poor monster, weak monster, no monster, quiet monster

Brave monster, howl monster, man monster, ridiculous monster

Lead monster, plague monster, bully monster, tyrant monster

Scurvy monster, shallow monster, servant monster

Ignorant monster

Oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah

Oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah

Oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah

Oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah, oo-ah

Sometime I am all wound with adders who, with cloven tongues, do hiss me into madness

Heavens keep me from these beasts

Freckled whelp, hag borne, dull thing

Torment to the damned

Savage, abhorred slave, brutish, vile race

Shrugst thou, monster? Do you hear, monster? Art thou lost, monster?

Poor worm thou art infected, I fear a madness holds you

Creature composed of harshness, filth as thou art, imposter

Fury crack, cracked misshapen, sour eyed disdain and discord

Most lying and most wicked, being unfit to live

Featuring Norma Butikofer, Helen Cockill as CALIBAN, Ellie Showering

Music by E. Showering

Lyrics by W. Shakespeare adapted by E. Showering

THE FOOLS

CALIBAN

All the infections that the sun sucks up on Proper fall

I loved him, cursed be that I did so, cursed be that I did

Lo, now, lo here comes a spirit of his to torment me

I will fall flat, perchance he will not mind me

TRINCULO

I feel another storm a brewing, I hear it in the wind

I know not where to hide my head, I know not where to hide my head

What have we here? A man or fish? Dead or alive? He smells like fish...

Alas the storm is come again - I'll creep under his gaberdine

STEPHANO

This is some monster of the isle with four legs and an ague

Oh he shall taste of my bottle, come, this will shake your shaking

CALIBAN

This liquor is not earthly -

TRINCULO

Stephano? -

STEPHANO

Four legs two voices

Come, amen, I'll pour some in thy other mouth

How didst thou escape, Trinculo, how didst thou escape?

TRINCULO

I swam ashore just like a duck and then I hid me from the storm

STEPHANO

Well I escaped on a full butt of sack 'twas hauled overboard

TRINCULO

O, worthy peer, hast though more of this? -

STEPHANO

Yes, I hid it in a rock

CALIBAN

Brave God, hast thou not dropped from Heaven bearing celestial liquor?

I'll kiss thy foot -

STEPHANO

Come on then, kiss -

CALIBAN

I'll kneel to thee -

STEPHANO

Come on then, down

TRINCULO

But that poor creature is in drink, when God's asleep he'll rob his bottle

CALIBAN

Out of my way -

TRINCULO

Thou deboshed fish, thou, a murrain upon your mother

*PAUSE*

CALIBAN

I would my master would destroy the plagued tyrant that I serve

You mayst brain him, paunch him, batter him or cut him with your knife

Deeply consider now the beauty of his daughter -

STEPHANO

If't so brave a lass

Then, monster, I will kill this man so she'll become my bed

CALIBAN

Do that good mischief which may make this island thine - art thou afeared?

STEPHANO

No, no, not I - give me thy hand I do begin my bloody thoughts

ARIEL

Thou liest -

STEPHANO

Keep a good tongue in thy head, sir, or it's the next tree

TRINCULO

Why I said nothing, why, what did I - oh the devil take your fingers

STEPHANO

Take thou that, give me the lie another time, stand farther off

Now, servant, how can this be compassed canst thou bring me to the party?

CALIBAN

I'll yield him thee asleep, wilt thou destroy him then? Remember first to

Burn his books for without them he is a sot

Featuring Norma Butikofer as TRINCULO, Helen Cockill as CALIBAN Ellie Showering as STEPHANO. All as ARIEL.

HARPY

You fools, you men of sin from Milan did supplant good Prospero

Him and his innocent child exposed unto the sea

For this foul deed the powers incense the seas

And shores against your peace

I and my fellows are ministers of fate - and like invulnerable

Thee of thy son, Alonzo, they have bereft

Lingering perdition worse than any death

Step by step attend you and your ways

I have made you mad

THE WEDDING ("BY THE WATERS")

Ooh, ooh, ooh

Ooh, ooh, ooh

Two most rare affections

My admired, hear my soul speak to you

Worth what’s dearest to the world

By the waters I did find you, I did warm you

Be of comfort, beyond limit I will love you

Ahh, ahh, ahh

Ahh, ahh, ahh

Here’s my hand with my heart in’t

Oh you wonder, precious creature

I’ll be your surety

I found you somehow

I found you somehow

I found you somehow

I found you somehow

I found you somehow

I found you somehow

Ooh, ooh, ooh

Ooh, ooh, ooh

Be of comfort, beyond limit I will love you

ARIEL IS FREED

I drink the air before me as I scale the ne’er surfeited sea

I have done thee worthy service, noble master, my commander

I have told no lies, made thee no mistakings,

Thou didst promise me my liberty

I shall be free as mountain winds and have the air at freedom

Was’t well done, fine Ariel?

I go, I go, I go

FINALE

Down with the topmast, lower, lower

Fall to't or we run ourselves aground

Heigh my hearts, cheerly, cheerly my hearts

I pray now keep below

Down with the topmast, lower, lower

Fall to't or we run ourselves aground

Heigh my hearts, cheerly, cheerly my hearts

I pray now keep below, I pray now keep below

SEA SHANTY (BONUS TRACK)

Down with the topmast, lower, lower

Fall to't or we run ourselves aground

High my hearts, cheerly, cheerly my hearts

I pray now keep below

Go tend to the Master's whistle

Take in the topsail, ahold

Bestir, bestir, poor souls bestir

Shall we give oe'r and drown

Now would I give a thousand furlongs

For one barren acre of ground

We split, we split, stand fast good fate

The wills above be done

I'll be patient when the sea is

They shout "let's all sink with the King"

A plague, a plague upon this howling

They are louder than the weather

Down with the topmast, lower, lower

Fall to't or we run ourselves aground

High my hearts, cheerly, cheerly my hearts

I pray now keep below

I pray now keep below
